JHM Care – A Commitment To Our Global Community

“The JHM Family of Hotel’s, has supported hundreds of local organizations that focus their efforts in support to the homeless, hungry and those in medical need. Our individual hotel properties are encouraged to engage with community organizations and play an active role through volunteerism and donations to support those who are challenged with supporting themselves. The generosity of the Rama Family and dedication and commitment of our many JHM associates has resulted in thousands of personal hours and room nights that have been provided to these caring organizations for their charity auctions and fundraising events.

The success of JHM Hotels, as a result of the hard work and caring commitment of the Rama Family and our valued associates, has provided multiple villages in India with much needed facilities and services such as the construction of a water purification facility, and construction and furnishing of equipment for a new cafeteria for a school of 700 students. Of the many projects initiated, JHM has recently “adopted” an entire village in India.  This farming community has operated well below India’s poverty level, in an unsanitary environment and without life’s basic necessities. Our JHM Family has embraced the needs of this community and its families by building over 150 new homes, inclusive of construction of a new road system complete with underground utilities and a landscape beautification project. Over 500 family members in this village have been provided free medical treatment, drug and alcohol eradication and primary education to help them care for themselves and learn new trades as they grow to become a thriving new community.

Education is the foundational cornerstone of JHM Hotels’ corporate responsibility commitment. Our organization has proudly initiated multiple scholarship funds to help many well deserving young adults achieve their educational goals. The following is a representation of these initiatives.

• JHM Hotels, Inc. established the “Rama Scholarship for the American Dream” with a $1,000,001 endowment. The five Rama brothers, principals in the company, emigrated from India to pursue their American Dream. It began with the ownership of one lodging property and grew into a successful operation of 30 properties with 5,000 rooms and more than 1,300 associates. The fund, established on the 25th anniversary of the brothers' first hotel purchase, encourages others to create their own American Dream. Participating schools select the recipients and preference is given to students of Asian-Indian descent and other minority groups as well as JHM Hotel employees.

This Scholarship fund has allowed 342 students attending 17 universities to realize their educational goals to date. JHM continues to support this fund to offer educational scholarships for many years to come.

• In celebration of the Grand Opening of the new JHM Hotels Corporate Office in October of 2006, the Rama Family once again elected to share their good fortune on behalf of the all JHM associates. Two significant scholarship funds were created to help the children of our local hero’s, the Greenville Police Department and the Greenville Fire Department. Each of these two organizations was presented with checks for $100,001 each to build a scholarship foundation. JHM will work closely with these two worthy organizations to help grow this fund through charity events hosted at the company’s hotels.
